Day 6: Bye Serena

If you are naive enough to be surprised by an American losing on clay, then this is your upset of the day.

Could her gumby-like sister be next to fall?

It is 11:15 am in California.  That's 8:15 pm in Roland Garros.  A few matches are still underway.

American wildcard Wayne Odesnik had his cindarella run ended by The Joker in straight sets.  But it wasn't as easy as it sounded.  Odesnik was firing heat seeking missiles all match long.  Unfortunately for Odesnik, it takes more than heat to get Djokovic out of the kitchen.

Rafa aka the matador Nadal did everything but force 26th seed Jarko Nieminen to surrender.  Rafa gave him only 5 games before he sent him packing.

In other news, Maria aka the shrieking princess lost another set but prevailed, as did the ever cute and sassy Ana Ivanovic (a straight set win over Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark).

Sadly for the home crowds, French upstart Alize Cornet was upended by Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

But French spirits were revived when 18th seed Paul-Henri Mathieu won a thrilling fourth set tiebreaker against Argentinian Eduardo Schwank (no relation to Hillary Swank, obviously) to advance to the round of 16.
